Dad sneakers are trending — but this time, they’re barefoot. Here are the best chunky, retro-inspired minimalist sneakers with natural comfort.

Dad shoes.

That used to be the term for those sneakers that were bulky, white, and unequivocally uncool. And of course, beloved by many a dad in the ‘90s.

But as fashion goes, the shoes you wouldn’t be caught dead in as a teenager are now the newest must-have for your sneaker rotation in your mid-30s.

If you’re hunting for the perfect Dad sneaker, you’re probably after that ‘90s running-shoe vibe with chunky soles and plenty of contrasting overlays that give it that endearingly clunky look.

The problem? Most of them come with a crazy narrow toe box and ridiculously stiff soles. I know plenty of people are willing to tolerate the discomfort for the sake of fashion, but how all those dads once called them comfortable… I’ll never understand.

Foot-shaped toe box on the Dolfie Paradise Supersonic barefoot dad sneakers

Luckily, barefoot shoe brands have caught on. They’re proving you don’t need to sacrifice natural foot shape or comfort to get this fun, retro style. These “barefoot dad sneakers” keep the wide toe box. And most of them have even managed to preserve the chunky sole aesthetic but still make them zero-drop and flexible.

Barefoot Dad Sneakers

Here are the best barefoot dad sneakers, that are both cool (as of 2025, you know how trends go) and comfortable. Keep in mind, most of these are casual sneakers, they’re not particularly made for running or the gym (except for the Bahé sneakers at the end of the list).

Dolfie Paradise Supersonic

€195 | Code KELLYDP10 for 10% off | EU36 – 47 | Leather | Shipped from Portugal

  • Fully captures the Dad shoe aesthetic
  • Amazing quality with premium materials
  • Higher price point, plus tariffs for US customers
  • Sole is heavier for barefoot shoes
Dolfie Paradise Supersonics barefoot dad sneakers

Dolfie is fully dialed into the wide toe box–meets–chunky sneaker look. They’ve been making sustainable footwear with a laid-back surf/skate vibe since 2007, and over the past two years they redesigned their complete lineup into a more foot-friendly shape to relaunch in 2025.

Even though Dolfie is relatively new to natural foot-shaped design, they’re not skimping on toe space. I have plenty of room for my medium-width foot in each of the Dolfie shoes I’ve tried.

The Dolfie Supersonics are my favorite barefoot Dad sneakers. They nail the Dad shoe aesthetic — lots of layering, bold textures, and a chunky-looking outsole (which actually only tops out at 8 mm without the insole). They flex well at the toes, though there’s a touch more stiffness around the heel than you’d find in a traditional barefoot shoe — expected when aiming for that thicker, structured look.

They’re a great option for beginners, offering a bit more cushion than most barefoot shoes (you can choose between two insoles — 3mm or 8mm), while still maintaining a good amount of flexibility. These soles are on the heavier side for barefoot shoes. It’s not a deal breaker for me, but it’s a noticeable difference compared to the lightness of many barefoot shoes.

Dolfie shoes feel thoughtfully designed and incredibly well made. They’ve recently released a new set of colors, including a bright green suede and a mesh and silver colorway. They’re a premium product, and the price reflects that level of craftsmanship. You can use code KELLYDP10 for 10% off.

Fit and sizing: Fits medium to wide width and accommodates low to high volume depending on which insole you use. Both me and my husband have higher insteps, and we get a comfortable fit with the thinner 3mm insole. It feels too tight if I try to use the 8mm. Size EU 38 fits my 23.3 cm foot perfectly.

Groundies Starlite 2.0

$150 | Code KELLY15 for 15% off | EU36 – 47 | Leather and Mesh | Shipped from USA (or Germany)

  • Wider toe box than most of Groundies regular barefoot fit
  • USA website with no separate tariffs and free shipping for US customers
  • Stiffer sole, especially around the heel
  • Heavier feel

Groundies Starlite 2.0 barefoot dad sneakers

Groundies has been on a roll lately with fun, on-trend styles, and the new Startlite 2.0 was one I was especially excited about. The silver overlays on white mesh are quintessential Dad sneaker and the perfect replacement for a pair of New Balance 530s — retro, sporty, and just the right amount of chunky.

Groundies’ fit tends to vary depending on the outsole, and this pair uses their newer TrueSense GSP outsole, which I found to be one of their widest. Some of Groundies’ soles run a bit narrow for me, but I had plenty of toe space in these.

There’s decent flexibility through the toes, though these feel noticeably stiffer around the heel, even more so than the Dolfie’s. They have a really solid, structured feel… maybe a little too solid for my taste. The outsole is 6mm, so they’re not particularly thick. Most of the stiffness is coming from the faux sidewall.

I love the white and silver colorway, though after wearing them, I do wish the outsole were a true white instead of off-white. Overall, they’ve been very comfortable — and a fun, shimmery way to try the Dad sneaker look in a barefoot-friendly shape.

If you’re in the US, make sure you’re ordering from the Groundies US website to take advantage of the free shipping and avoid a separate tariff bill. Though they don’t have quite as large of a selection as the main Groundies website, they still have a lot of great styles.

Fit & Sizing: These fit best for medium-width feet and medium to high volume. I found them true to size (EU38 for me), with more toe space than I typically find in a pair of Groundies’ sneakers.

Ohne Project Retro Run Sneakers

€169 | Code KELLY10 for 10% off | EU36 – 47 | Vegan | Shipped from Spain

  • Fully captures the Dad shoe aesthetic
  • Higher price point, plus tariffs for US customers

Ohne Project’s take on the dad sneaker feels similar to Dolfie’s, mainly because they use the same outsole. Previously, barefoot shoes brands had to design their own outsoles as a wide toe box was not something offered by outsole suppliers. But as suppliers and shoe factories are seeing the success of barefoot shoes, several are starting to add wide toe box, zero-drop options. An outsole supplier debuted this particular one last year, and a few brands have added it to their collection. It captures the chunky sneaker style well, and with a 5mm base and 3mm lugs, it’s a good balance between flexibility and comfort.

The Ohne Retro Run has its own upper design inspired by the 2000s and uses vegan materials including breathable mesh panels.

Bahé Revive Sneakers

$149+ | Code BAREFOOTGUIDE for 10% off | EU36 – 47 | Vegan | Shipped from UK

  • True performance athletic shoe
  • A bit simpler than the “dad sneaker” style

Okay, this one might be stretching the definition of a Dad sneaker a bit — it’s cleaner and more streamlined, with fewer overlays — but it definitely leans in that direction. And if you’re after a true athletic shoe you can take to the gym or on a run, the Bahe Revive is your best bet.

I absolutely love these sneakers. They’ve been my go-tos for over two years for anything involving more movement — from workouts and hikes to long travel days. The new “Modes” lineup offers three different cushioning levels, so you can pick your ideal stack height. I personally prefer the Flex or Adapt mode (10mm or 14mm, respectively), but the highest cushion option (the Endurance) is a great choice for running with a 22mm stack height. You can read my full review on the Bahé Modes line here.

In terms of tariffs, these ship from the UK but are made in China. Since tariffs are based on the country of origin, you’ll be charged the rate applicable to products manufactured in China.

Fit & Sizing: Fits medium to wide width and medium to high volume. They come with a 3mm removable insole, and the interior is finished, so you can comfortably wear them with or without it.

Final Thoughts

It’s amazing how far the barefoot world has come! You can finally wear the trends you love without giving up comfort or natural foot shape. These barefoot Dad sneakers nail that chunky aesthetic while staying true to a wide toe box and zero-drop design.

The Bahé Revive Modes line offers three cushion levels so you can choose your perfect barefoot running shoe—whether for the trail, gym, or daily wear.

If you catch me outside, or even in my stories, there’s a good chance I’m wearing my white Bahé Revive sneakers. I’ve had them since 2023, and they’ve been my go-to for everything from the gym to hikes to everyday errands. They’re so versatile that they’ve tagged along on plenty of my travels, too.

The original Revive has a 14mm stack height, which for me is the sweet spot for long days on my feet. The toe box is roomy, the volume fits my foot shape well and is easy to adjust with the removable insole, and everything about the fit and feel just works.

The only thing I ever wished for was a thinner version for everyday wear with a little more flexibility, and maybe a more cushioned version for longer runs.

Turns out I wasn’t the only one. Bahé has now launched the new Modes line, and the Revive comes in three cushioning levels: the Flex at 10mm, the Adapt at 14mm, and the Endurance at 22mm.

While much of my original review of the Revive still stands, I’ll go over the basics again here and dive into the differences between each of these minimalist shoes in the Revive Modes line.

If you want a quick summary, you can check out my video review of the Bahé Modes here.

About the Brand

Bahé was started by two friends with the perfect mix of skills to create a running shoe: Alex, a footwear designer by trade, and Kishan, a passionate runner. Their first release was a conventional running shoe, (think narrow toe box, heel-to-toe drop) but with some unique twists, like a grounding sole and a strong focus on sustainability.

When one of the founders began experiencing foot pain, he discovered barefoot shoes and realized their own designs could use a rethink. They introduced a barefoot version of their running shoe, then expanded into barefoot-style hiking boots and sandals. Most recently, Bahé launched the Modes line, so you can now get the Bahé Revive in three different levels of cushioning.

Wide, foot-shaped toe box of the Bahé Revive modes barefoot running shoes

How Barefoot is the Bahé Revive Modes Line

For starters, let’s check out the toe box. The Bahe Revive sneakers have a foot-shaped toe box; it’s actually one of the wider toe boxes I’ve seen (and I’ve literally seen hundreds of barefoot shoes!). However, they’re well-designed, and they don’t appear overly large or goofy.

The sole is flat, with very minimal toe spring. Since the new Modes line comes in three stack heights, the level of “barefoot feel” depends on which one you pick. The 10mm Flex offers excellent flexibility and ground feel. The 14mm Adapt adds a touch of cushion that takes the softens the impact of running on harder surfaces. And the 22mm Endurance delivers noticeably more bounce while still maintaining good flexibility. I’ll dive deeper into the ride and feel of each Mode in the next section.

Bahé Revive Basics

  • Running shoes with 2.5mm lug soles and mesh uppers
  • Unisex, sizes EU36 – EU48
  • Three different cushion levels: 10mm, 14mm, and 22mm, inclusive of the 3mm removable insole. The full range is 7mm (without the insole) up to 22mm.
  • Starting at $185, use code BAREFOOTGUIDE for 10% off
  • Based in UK, International shipping available

Fit and Sizing

Bahé shoes are unisex and come in sizes EU36–48 (roughly US men’s 4 / women’s 5 up to men’s 13 / women’s 14).

They fit best on medium to wide width and medium to high volume feet. The Revive line, in particular, has one of the widest toe boxes I’ve seen in the barefoot shoe world. When I compared them side-by-side with the Altra Lone Peak trail runners and the Lems Primal Zen, the Bahé Revive clearly offered more room in the toes.

Personally, I often struggle with barefoot running shoes feeling tight over the top of my foot because of my higher instep. The Revive was a welcome change—it had plenty of room, even with the removable insole in place. For anyone with very high-volume feet, you can take the insole out for extra space and more ground feel. On the flip side, if you have low-volume feet, swapping in a thicker insole can help dial in the fit.

Bahé Revive Modes Review

Revive Flex: 10mm Stack Height

Best uses: Daily wear, gym, shorter runs

Bahé Modes, the Revive Flex running shoe with the lowest stack height of 10mm

Code BAREFOOTGUIDE for 10% off

Let’s start with the most barefoot option in the Modes lineup: the Revive Flex. It has a 10mm stack height including the 3mm removable insole. If you take the insole out, you’re down to just 7mm total. The shoe is fully finished inside, so it’s comfortable to wear either way. There’s no midsole; just the outsole, a thin finished insock, and the optional insole cushion.

Because the Revive was designed initially for trail running, the outsole has 2.5mm lugs. That’s enough grip for hiking but not so aggressive that they feel clunky on the road or for daily wear.

Flexibility is excellent—exactly what you’d expect from a barefoot shoe. They bend and twist with ease. While the lugs add a little extra stack compared to the most minimal barefoot shoes, they don’t compromise flexibility. You still get that natural barefoot feel, with just a bit more rubber underfoot.

As I mentioned in the intro, I’ve worn the Original Revive with its 14mm stack height for about two years, so I immediately noticed the difference when I slipped on the Flex. With 3mm less cushion, it reminds me to land a little softer when I’m on pavement. If you’re new to barefoot shoes, these may still feel light on cushioning, but compared to the Adapt, the difference is clear.

I’m especially glad to have the Flex for the gym. While I often wore the Original Revive for workouts, it had a touch more bounce than I prefer for lifting weights. The Flex feels more stable underfoot, which makes it a great option for strength training.

Bahe Revive Flex Mode with 14mm stack height

Revive Adapt: 14mm Stack Height

Best uses: Daily wear for longer days on your feet, hiking, mid-distance runs

Bahe Modes Review: Adapt minimalist running shoes with 14mm stack height

Code BAREFOOTGUIDE for 10% off

The Adapt is only 4mm thicker than the Flex, but that small difference makes a noticeable impact. In my experience, an extra 3–4mm is enough to take a shoe from feeling almost cushionless to comfortably padded, especially if you’re going to be on your feet all day. So if you’re wondering whether you can feel the difference between the Flex and Adapt, the answer is absolutely yes.

The Revive Adapt has the same 14mm stack height and lugged outsole as the Original Revive, which I’ve worn regularly for the past two years. For me, the Adapt Mode hits the sweet spot between flexibility, ground feel, and cushion. There are a lot of barefoot shoes that lean more minimal, but it’s harder to find models that deliver this moderate level of padding without sacrificing flexibility.

As with the other Modes, the Revive Adapt comes with a 3mm removable insole. You can leave it in for a 14mm stack height, remove it to bring the shoe down to 11mm, or swap it for a thicker insole if you want more cushion. There’s plenty of room for adjustment, particularly for medium to low volume feet.

I’ve packed these shoes for countless trips, especially when I know I’ll be doing a mix of activities. They’ve come with me on hiking adventures across the US and even to Portugal, where I split my time between the trails and exploring historic towns on foot.

Revive Endurance: 22mm Stack Height

Best uses: Longer distance runs (especially for those new to barefoot shoes)

Code BAREFOOTGUIDE for 10% off

Feeling comfortable with walking in barefoot shoes and feeling comfortable running in them are two different things, and I always recommend people start out their running journey with a wide toe box, zero-drop shoe that has some cushion. Previously, the only brands offering that were Altra and Topo Athletic, but I’m so glad I can now add Bahé to that list. While the 22mm stack height of the Endurance is similar to those brands, Bahé stays closer to the barefoot ethos with much more flexibility and very minimal toe spring. The outsole is similar to the other Modes, but this version includes three grooved flex points to keep the thicker stack height moving naturally.

My first impression after a few strides in the Endurance was, “Wow, these are bouncy!” Compared to the other two modes, you can feel the shoe doing more work in propelling you forward.

As someone that has now worn barefoot shoes for years, I likely won’t be wearing these as a daily shoe with how much bounce these have. But if you’re just starting out with barefoot shoes (for either walking or running) and aren’t ready to go straight to minimal cushion, the Endurance is an excellent entry point that offers comfort without losing too much flexibility.

Final Thoughts on the Bahé Revive Modes Line

The Bahé Modes line makes it easy to find your perfect barefoot shoe, whether you’re hitting the trails, the gym, or just running errands. With three stack heights, you can choose the right balance of ground feel and cushion for your needs. The Flex delivers a pure barefoot experience and excels in the gym, the Adapt hits the sweet spot of comfort and flexibility for long daily wear, and the Endurance provides a cushioned, bouncy ride that’s ideal for those new to barefoot running or longer distances.

What sets Bahé apart is how well they maintain flexibility, a foot-shaped toe box, and a zero-drop design across all three Modes, even with added cushioning. The Bahé Modes line gives you options, letting you pick the shoe that fits your activity and comfort preference without compromising the barefoot ethos.

The Bahé Modes line is currently available on pre-order. You can get a total of 20% off with my code BAREFOOTGUIDE through August 31, 2025.

Discover the trendiest barefoot sneakers of 2025—stylish, foot-friendly alternatives inspired by this year’s hottest sneaker trends. Stay comfy without sacrificing style!

Comfort and foot health comes first—always. But even the most dedicated barefoot shoe fans (myself included) still like to stay with the times when it comes to sneaker style. In 2024, I highlighted some of the trendiest styles (think Nike Dunks and Adidas Sambas), but fashion is always evolving. Retro, colorful sneakers are still going strong, but we’re also seeing some new players take the spotlight.

I’ve been in Los Angeles most of the past month, which is one of the best places for trendspotting, especially when it comes to sneakers. I noticed a major uptick in people rocking Onitsuka Tigers, Puma Speedcats, and chunkier New Balance models like the 9060. While some of these trends translate well into the barefoot shoe world, others—especially the ultra-chunky ones—can be a bit trickier to replicate. That said, some new brands have given it a go, and I’m impressed!

Barefoot shoe brands are already drawing inspiration from these popular styles, and a few newer names are carving out their own unique look.

Let’s take a look at the trendiest barefoot sneakers for 2025—and how you can stay stylish and comfortable.

Sizing reference

For most of these shoes, I’ll provide a sizing reference based on my experience with the fit. Read more on measuring your feet for barefoot shoes here.

I’m most often a US7.5/EU38 in my barefoot sneakers and casual shoes. My feet are medium (‘B’) width and measure 23.3cm long with a higher instep and narrower ankle. I typically look for shoes with an extra 1.2cm of space.

Features of Barefoot Sneakers

All the shoes featured here have a natural foot-shaped, with the widest point at the toes. The soles are thin, flat and flexible.

Trendy Barefoot Sneakers in 2025

Let’s jump right in! If you’re looking for the most up-to-date sneakers in the barefoot shoe world, start here!

Saguaro Dash Sneakers

Mesh and Microfiber Uppers | $61 | Code KELLY15 for 15% off | Shop Saguaro

Dash barefoot sneakers like Saguaro Shoes are like the Onitsuka Tigers, one of the trendiest barefoot sneakers in 2025

The Onitsuka Tigers seem to be the sneaker of the moment, so the barefoot shoe heavily inspired by these had to take the first spot. The Saguaro Shoes Dash have sold out multiple times, so I’m just hoping they restock. Saguaro Shoes is an affordable barefoot shoe brand, and with my code KELLY15, you can grab these for about $50. The Dash sneakers feature mesh and microfiber uppers on some, with canvas and microfiber on others. They come in several bright and bold colorways. The soles are flat and flexible, and I find them true to size (that’s an EU38 for me).

Xero Shoes Wynn Sneakers

Nylon and Suede Uppers | Prices start at $181 | Shop Xero Shoes

Xero Shoes Wynn, Trendy barefoot sneakers in 2025

These are easily one of my favorite pairs of Xero Shoes ever. Personally, I think they’re one of their best designs—and as someone who spent a few years wearing the New Balance 574s, these feel like the perfect barefoot-friendly throwback.

They’ve got that same retro runner vibe with a casual, wear-everywhere look, but with all the barefoot features we love: zero drop, flexible sole, and a roomy toe box. The nylon and suede uppers feel durable yet lightweight, and they strike that rare balance between sporty and stylish. I love the white and grey color way with maroon accents, but they have darker versions too. If you’re looking for a barefoot sneaker that nails the classic athletic aesthetic, the Wynn is it. I’m wearing a size US7.5, which is my usually size for Xero.

Dolphie Paradise Supersonice NFS

Leather and Suede | €195 | Code KELLYDP10 for 10% off | Shop Dolphie

Dolfie Paradise barefoot shoes

Dolphie Paradise might be new to barefoot shoes, but they’re definitely not new to designing cool, classic sneakers. After years as a conventional shoe brand, they made a full transition—completely redesigning their styles to feature wide toe boxes, zero-drop construction, and flexible soles.

What I love most is that they’ve kept their own unique design point of view, though if you’re trying to get that New Balance chunky sneaker look, I think these fit the bill! They bring serious style cred and experience to the barefoot world, and it shows.

These come with two sets of insoles: 8mm and 3mm. The 8mm is a lot of cushion, and makes the shoes better-suited to those with low volume feet. I wear these in an EU38 with the 3mm insole.

Brambas Calabria 165

Vegan leather uppers | €140 | Code KELLY for 10% off | Shop Brambas

Brambas Calabria are retro vegan leather barefoot sneakers

Spain seems to be the birthplace of cool, retro barefoot sneakers at the moment— and Brambas is one of the newest options. Brambas launched on Kickstarter earlier this year with their Calabria 165 sneaker, made with corn leather uppers and soft bamboo lining. I opted for my usual size, an EU38, and they feel like the perfect fit.

Blusun 200

Nubuck and Suede leather uppers | €140 | Code KELLY10 for 10% off | Shop Blusun

barefoot features of BLUSUN barefoot shoes

The Adidas Samba felt like *the* sneaker of 2024, and it looks like they’ll still be one of most popular options throughout 2024–especially in bright, bold colors. Blusun is fully on board with that trend, with colors like hot pinks, brilliant blues, and this beautiful green. But don’t worry, if you’re into neutrals, they have that too. The Blusun brand may be new in 2024, but it was launched by a pair of barefoot shoe industry veterans. All of the shoes feel incredibly well-made, and have super flexible soles. These sneakers fit narrower, lower volume feet best. I opted for an EU37. They fit well length-wise, but as they have a narrower fit, I might’ve been better off opting for a size up for more width and volume.

Check out more barefoot alternatives to the Adidas Samba here.

Groundies Universe

Leather uppers | $130 | Shop Groundies US

Groundies Universe barefoot sneakers are classic sneakers

A simple leather sneaker is always in style, and these Groundies Universe have subtle details that are reminiscent of the Adidas Stan Smith shoes. I wear these in an EU38.

Groundies now has separate websites for the US and all other international orders, so make sure you’re on the correct one when ordering.

Dolfie Paradise Dylan NS

Canvas or Suede | €195 | Code KELLYDP10 for 10% off | Shop Dolphie

Dolfie Paradise new barefoot shoe line, skater shoes with a wide toe box and embroidered uppers

I could honestly put all of Dolfie’s new barefoot line in this post as I personally think they’re one of the coolest new additions to barefoot shoes in 2025. But the Dylan deserves a special shout out as something totally unique, with its skater vibe and embroidered uppers. The Dylan style also comes in tan or black suede or another canvas option with tie dye. I wear all the Dolfie shoes I’ve tried in an EU38, including the Dylan.

What sneaker trend are you hoping comes to barefoot shoes next? And what barefoot sneakers do you think should be on this list?

BLUSUN barefoot shoes review

About the Brand

BLUSUN may be a newer brand in the barefoot shoe space, but the founders, Silvia Brindlmayer and Dirk Pfeffer, have more than a few years of experience between them at other barefoot shoe brands and in the fashion industry. Barefoot Features

Unlike conventional sneakers that often restrict foot movement, BLUSUN shoes are designed to support a natural walking experience. As a barefoot shoe, they have a flat and flexible sole, and a more naturally shaped toe box. Here’s what makes them stand out:

  • Great Flexibility and Ground Feel – The 5mm sole allows for excellent ground feel, promoting balance and foot strength. On the spectrum of very barefoot to stiff, conventional shoe, these are on the very barefoot end of things!
  • Naturally-shaped Toe Box – The toe box is naturally-shaped; they are best suited for narrow feet up to medium width feet.
  • Lightweight Design – The shoes are overall very minimal and light!

Materials

BLUSUN uses high-quality materials that balance durability with sustainability.

The soles are made in Germany from TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), which is known for its durability, flexibility, and resistance to abrasion.

The shoes are crafted in Portugal. Depending on the style of shoe, the uppers are made from leather (smooth leather, nubuck and suede), faux leather, and organic cotton. It was hard to tell which was real leather and which was faux leather between the models I got–a good sign that it’s a higher-quality, realistic-looking faux leather.

The insides are lined with organic cotton & microfiber to make them smooth and comfortable, even without socks.

How Do They Fit?

BLUSUN shoes are best suited to those with narrow to medium width and low to medium volume feet. Based on the shape of the toe box, these are ideal for slope and plateau foot shapes.

BLUSUN carries sizes EU37 – 43. The shoes are unisex, so there is no difference between the men’s and women’s shoes in the same size, though they do have a different color selection.

As someone with a medium width, higher volume foot, these are a little tight on the pinky toe in width, and a little low in volume over the knuckle of the big toe for me. My foot length is 23.3cm and my width is 9.1 cm. I usually look for shoes with an insole measurement of about 24.5cm, or 1.2cm longer than my foot measurement. I’ve been wearing the EU37, which has an internal length of 24.4cm. Because I could use a little more length, width and volume, I think I’d trying sizing up to an EU38 next time. I wear an EU38 in most of my barefoot sneakers, so as the EU38 seems like they’d be the better size for me, I’d say these fit true to size.

These do not come with a separate, removable insole. Because they are already on the lower end of the volume spectrum, I’d expect that most people likely won’t need an insole to help with fit, but keep that in mind when thinking about sole thickness. Without an insole, they’ll be a true 5mm, which is great for flexibility and ground feel. But if you are more accustomed to a 5mm to 6mm outsole plus an insole of 3mm or more, it could be a bit less cushion than you are used to.

If you have wider feet or fall between sizes, consider sizing up. You can check out the BLUSUN size chart here.

BLUSUN Barefoot Shoes

All BLUSUN barefoot shoes share the same outsole, resulting in a consistent fit across all styles. They showcase clean, classic designs in a wide range of colors, from versatile neutrals to vibrant, bold hues (like hot pink, bright blue, and hi lighter yellow). Let’s get started on the unique styles in this BLUSUN barefoot shoes review!

BLSN 200

The BLSN 200 style features a the T-shaped overlay on the toe box for a retro aesthetic (reminiscent of the Adidas Samba). While some of the shoes of this style use all of the same upper material, some use a contrasting color or material to accentuate the overlaying patches. Some of my favorites are the green pictured above and the white/grey contrasting pictured below.

BLSN 500

This BLUSUN barefoot sneaker features a classic paneled design, highlighted by an overlaying panel that wraps around the toe box that’s often a contrasting color. This layered construction enhances durability while creating a fun visual contrast.

BLUSUN 500 barefoot shoes in white

BLSN 100

This is BLSUN’s simplest design, with an upper crafted from smooth, unembellished material, creating a clean and modern aesthetic. I love that BLUSUN is pushing the color envelope on some of these simpler styles–you can get these in coral pink or a bold hot pink.

BLSN 103

This simple sneaker is a fully vegan option with the same design as the BLSN 100, made with organic cotton uppers. Pick from neutral colors like beige or blue, or opt for a brightly-colored statement piece with the hi lighter yellow!

Pricing

BLUSUN barefoot shoes are priced competitively for the quality and design they offer. With a focus on premium materials and a well-crafted barefoot feel, their pricing reflects durability and comfort without reaching the high-end luxury tier. The canvas sneakers start at $136, while the faux leather, leather, and suede shoes are prices at $159.

You can use code KELLY10 for 10% off at BLUSUN.

Shipping & Returns

BLUSUN offers free shipping within Germany for orders over €100. Shipping within the EU is 5 € for orders over 100 €. Shipping costs are 25 € to 45 € for countries outside of the EU. See their detailed shipping rates for all other countries here.

For returns, customers must send shoes back in unused condition with the undamaged original box. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs, or you prepay for a return label. The prepaid return labels vary by region, including €4 within Germany and €12 within the EU. For countries outside the EU, it ranges from 25 € to 35 €. See BLUSUN’s returns portal for all other return costs.

If you’re outside the EU, the shipping and return costs are high, so you’re going to want to make sure you get the right size! Double check my sizing comments, and let me know if you have any questions!

Final Thoughts

BLUSUN is bringing fresh energy to the barefoot shoe scene with sleek designs, premium materials, and a strong commitment to sustainable production. These sneakers are not just great for your feet—they’re stylish, flexible, and incredibly comfortable. Whether you’re drawn to bold colors or timeless neutrals, leather or vegan options, BLUSUN has something for everyone.

I hope this BLUSUN barefoot shoes review helped you get to know the brand, and understand if they’re the right shoe for you! Keep in mind, they’re best for narrow to medium-width feet…because barefoot shoes are all about finding the perfect fit for your feet. If you’re after a barefoot sneaker that combines fashion, function, and all-day comfort, BLUSUN is definitely a brand to check out!

Leopard print is making a comeback in 2025, and this time, it’s taking over the sneaker world—including barefoot shoes. Once considered a bold statement piece, leopard print sneakers are now being embraced as a stylish neutral, pairing effortlessly with everything from casual jeans to athleisure wear. Mainstream sneaker brands have already jumped on board, and now many barefoot shoe companies are following suit, offering trendy animal print designs that don’t sacrifice comfort or foot health. If you love the look of leopard but also want a foot-friendly, zero-drop option, you’re in luck—let’s explore the best barefoot leopard print sneakers of 2025!

Leopard Print Beyond Sneakers: Sandals and Loafers

While leopard print sneakers are trending in 2025, this classic pattern has long been popular in other footwear styles—especially sandals and loafers. If you love the bold look of leopard print but prefer something other than sneakers, barefoot brands have you covered here too. Several are a similar leather loafer style from Etsy sellers that handmake their shoes in Turkey.

Is it worth paying a premium for the barefoot name brand? Let’s compare some similar designs from popular name brands to newer entrants to the barefoot shoe market.

The rise in popularity of barefoot shoes has brought a wave of new brands offering affordable alternatives to established names, sometimes with very similar designs. But not all barefoot shoes are created equal, and knowing what sets them apart can make all the difference.

In this article, we’ll dive into comparisons of several popular barefoot sneaker models. From more premium, established brands like Vivobarefoot, Shapen and BeLenka, to more budget-friendly alternatives like Saguaro Shoes and Lono, we’ll explore their strengths, weaknesses, and overall value. Whether you’re a barefoot shoe enthusiast or just getting started, this guide will help you navigate the options and find the perfect pair for your needs.

Vivobarefoot Primus

Vivobarefoot Primus Lite Knit

Let’s kick things off with the Vivobarefoot Primus. Vivobarefoot is a pioneer in the modern barefoot shoe movement, launched back in 2012. They focus on creating footwear that allows natural foot function, promotes sustainable practices and has a unique design style that makes them easy to spot.

The Primus is Vivobarefoot’s signature barefoot athletic shoe and comes in several versions, including a light mesh, a knit, and a trail version with more prominent lugs. As one of the most popular barefoot shoes today, it has inspired a variety of similar designs from other brands.

Vivobarefoot Primus vs Lono Flow

The Vivobarefoot Primus Knit (the white sneaker in the photos above) stands out with its sleek, original design. The knit upper is both functional and stylish, delivering a premium look and feel. Vivobarefoot is known for its exceptional ground feel; if they’re the right fit, the Primus Knit offers a barefoot experience that’s hard to beat.

The full retail price of $175 may induce some sticker shock, but there are plenty of ways to get these at a lower price. The easiest is to use my code BSG20 for 20% off. This brings it down to $140, which is more in line with other brand name barefoot shoes. Vivobarefoot also offers free shipping, free returns, and a 100-day trial, so you won’t be stuck with an expensive shoe you don’t love. You can also shop the end-of-season sales, or check out revivo.com for a gently used and refurbished pair of Vivos.

Lono is a relatively new entrant in the barefoot shoe market. They launched their flagship barefoot model, the Lono Flow, in 2023. It’s designed for active lifestyles and workouts.

The Lono Flow is a budget-friendly alternative at $98 (the pink sneaker), clearly inspired by the Primus Knit in both design and functionality. You can get 5% off with code KELLY. They were originally priced at $76, so with the price increase to almost $100 (and considering the discount you can get at Vivobarefoot), the gap is no longer quite as big. But it’s enough that I’d want to know if the Lono is just as good as the Vivobarefoot Primus.

Both are barefoot sneakers with a minimalist design, but they differ in price, materials and construction. Let’s break down the details to help you decide if it’s worth spending $175 on Vivobarefoot’s Primus Knit or opting for the $98 Lono Flow.

Compare and Contrast

Design: Both shoes feature a minimalist, knit upper design with a sock-like fit. However, the Primus Knit’s sleek and premium aesthetic edges out the Lono Flow, which feels less polished.

Barefoot Features: Both offer wider, naturally-shaped toe boxes and zero-drop, flexible soles, but the Primus Knit provides a superior ground feel.

The toe boxes feel like they have a similar width, but the Lono Flow appears wider and more bulky. I took out the insoles, and they line up almost exactly for toe box width, though the Lono do feel slightly roomier when wearing them.

The Primus knit has a 4mm outsole that easily bends and flexes in every direction. It works really well as a gym shoe when you don’t want or need thickness or lugs. In contrast, the Lono Flow feels like a hybrid sole, with a 4mm base and 2mm lugs, and noticeably less flex. This can be a positive if you’re looking to wear it more outdoors and on uneven terrain where a deeper lug could be more helpful or comfortable.

After a few years of wearing barefoot shoes, my feet and body are more aware, and a bit more picky with what I have on my feet. The Lono Flow are zero-drop, but I do feel a slight toe spring.

Durability: Durability can vary a lot from user to user, but generally I’d expect a similar lifespan from these shoes. The Flow has a microfiber suede around the toe and sides which can be more durable than the mesh, but I think it makes it look more like a budget-shoe.

Fit and Sizing: The fit and sizing is similar on both. They both feel geared towards those with narrow to medium width feet, and low to medium volume. I wear an EU38 on both the Primus and the Lono Flow based on a 23.3cm foot measurement. I need to remove the insole on both to have enough space for my higher volume, medium width feet.

Which Should You Buy?

Overall, if I was trying to make things feel as natural and barefoot as possible, place a high priority on sustainability, and price wasn’t an issue, I’d opt for the Vivobarefoot Primus Knit. If I didn’t mind a little extra stiffness and stack height and wanted a more affordable option, the Lono Flow is a solid choice.

Vivobarefoot Primus Knit vs Lono Flow barefoot sneakers

Other barefoot shoes inspired by the Vivobarefoot Primus

Groundz: The Groundz BIOS lifestyle sneakers also look aesthetically similar to the Vivobarefoot Primus. Their unique feature is that they’re grounding or earthing shoes, which means that they have conductive technology in the sole to keep you connected to the Earth’s electrical charge. They feel very well-made with high quality materials. The uppers are made from nubuck leather and a wool blend knit. The soles are 5mm with a 2mm removable insole. They are similar in width to Vivos, though they feel a bit lower volume. I have 23.3cm feet and wear an EU39, and need to remove the insole to accomodate my higher instep.

These retail for $200, so I’d recommend these for people who are looking for a barefoot grounding sneaker. Use code KELLY5 for 5% off.

Xero Shoes Kids Prio vs Saguaro Shoes Sneakers

Xero Shoes Prio Kids vs Saguaro Shoes
Saguaro Shoes (blue on the left) vs Xero Shoes (grey on the right)

Xero Shoes (grey sneaker above) is another major player in the barefoot shoe space, and their popular Prio sneaker comes in kid’s sizes.  It’s a popular choice for parents looking for a sporty and practical, with a reasonable price point of $65. They also have several large sales throughout the year (usually a 20% off sale for new releases at the start of the season, and a clearance at the end of the season). For example, right now these kid’s Prios are on sale for $46.

Saguaro Shoes (blue sneakers above) is known for affordable barefoot shoes and often look to other barefoot shoe brands for their designs. Most Saguaro kid’s barefoot sneakers ring up between $40 and $50. You can use code KELLY15 for 15% off at Saguaro Shoes.

Since the price differential isn’t as much here, it’s less of a question if the name brand is worth the higher price, and more just about which one is a better fit for your child.

Design: The design is very similar and both brands manufacture in China.

The Xero Shoes feel like they have better enough materials that it’s worth pointing out—the mesh feels thinner and lighter (a plus when you want a breathable athletic shoe), and the edging is made with more durable synthetic leather, compared to the suede microfiber on the Saguaros. I do like corded elastic laces on the Saguaros; the Xero Shoes laces tend to come untied often.

Barefoot Features: The toe box has similar space, and the flexibility is very comparable, with a slight edge to the Xero Shoes. The Xero Shoes are also a bit thinner. They both have removeable insole, but the Saguaro Shoes have an exposed foam midlayer underneath, so you’d experience a lot of wear on this if you didn’t wear them with the included insole.

Durability: Like I mentioned before, durability can be hard to gauge, especially with kids that can be really hard on shoes. We’ve had great experiences with both Xero and Saguaro Shoes. I think the synthetic leather, especially around the toes, gives the Xero Shoes Kid’s Prio the leg up here on durability here.

Which Should You Buy?

Overall, these ones come out close in fit, feel and price. I think the Xero Shoes Prio feel lighter, with better, lighterweight materials, while the Saguaros feel bulkier with the same design.  Note that sometimes Saguaro will sell out of a particular style and remove it from their website. Sometimes they bring it back, but sometimes they don’t. This one isn’t currently listed, but hopefully will come back as we move into spring 2025.

Shapen Frosty vs Saguaro Shoes Puffer

Both brands offer these boots in adult and kid’s sizes, but they have different designs depending on the category. First, we’ll cover the adults.

Adult sizes: Shapen Frosty vs Saguaro Shoes Puffer

Shapen is a standout for more stylish designs in the barefoot shoe world, and this applies to their boots. The Frosty is a cute, but utilitarian slip-on short boot with leather edging, nylon uppers, and cross straps that allow you to tighten and secure the boots. I love all of my Shapen boots for how lightweight and flexible they are. The soles on these are 4mm with improved Grip. The adult shoes are $189, but are currently on sale for $151. Use code KELLY5 for 5% off.

The Saguaro Shoes Puffer boots are clearly taking some inspiration from the Shapen Frosty, though they don’t feel quite as fashionable with the toe outline sole. The materials also don’t feel as high quality—instead of leather edging its microfiber suede, and the nylon feels a lot thinner and like it could easily rip. These do have a very warm and cozy lining. They retail at $68 (so $58 with the KELLY15 code), and are perfect for a practical, easy boot to throw on when you need to run out the door.

These are similar in idea, but with the design details, Shapen is more fashion-focused, and the Saguaros are practical and more affordable.

Kid’s Sizes: Shapen Frosty Mini vs Saguaro Shoes Kid’s Puffer I

Shapen Kids Puffy Boots vs the Saguaro Shoes Puffer boots

I’m reviewing the kid’s sizes separately as these boots have a different design for both brands. They do both use similar materials, so the comment above regarding Shapen using better materials holds.

For the kid’s sizes, the Shapen Puffy Mini boot (in green above) uses leather edging and nylon uppers. The Saguaro kid’s Puffer boot (in black above) design varies more in that the bottom half of the Saguaro boot is all microfiber suede, and only the shaft is nylon material. While the Shapen boot isn’t completely waterproof, my son wore these in light snow, and his feet were still dry after a few hours. The microfiber suede on the Saguaro boot doesn’t do as well with moisture.

The Saguaro boot also has a velcro strap around the top of the foot and an elastic pull around the top, whereas the Shapen has an elastic pull around the top of the foot to secure. Both work fine to secure the foot, and the boots don’t feel floppy.

For my thicker-footed toddler, neither boot is the easiest to get on as the opening isn’t adjustable, but the Saguaro is noticeably harder.

Saguaro doesn’t adjust the price on the kid’s sizes—they’re still $68 (or $58 with the code). The Shapen boots are $99 for kids, but they’re currently on sale for $84. Both feel expensive for kid’s boots, but the Shapen boots have been my 3-year-olds favorite boots to wear this winter, so he must find them warm and comfortable. While I wouldn’t rely on the Shapen Frosty if you need a fully waterproof boot, the water-resistant nylon will keep you covered in a lot of weather.

Conclusion

So, are name-brand barefoot shoes worth the splurge, or can affordable look-alikes do the job? It really depends on what you’re looking for. Premium brands like Vivobarefoot, Shapen, and BeLenka tend to shine when it comes to quality materials, durability, and original designs. They’re a great choice if you want something that lasts and feels amazing on your feet.

But let’s not overlook budget-friendly options like Saguaro Shoes and Lono. They’re a fantastic way to dip your toes into the barefoot world without breaking the bank, especially if you’re just starting out or need an extra pair for casual wear.

At the end of the day, it’s about finding what works for you. Whether you go for the premium splurge or stick to a budget, stepping into barefoot shoes is always a win for your feet. Trust me, once you find the right pair, you’ll never want to go back!

These effortlessly cool, retro-style barefoot shoes like the Adidas Samba balance style and comfort.

The Adidas Samba has made waves in 2024 and continuing into 2025 as one of the most popular sneakers on the market. Known for its vintage-inspired design, versatile style, and large selection of color combinations, it’s easy to see why it’s made such a comeback.

However, while the Adidas Samba has a lot to offer in aesthetics, it lacks some of the key features that barefoot shoe enthusiasts look for, like a wide toe box and a zero-drop sole. This posts lists my top 7 picks for barefoot shoes like the Adidas Samba, plus more options at the end!

Adidas Samba vs Barefoot Shoe

A little history on the Adidas Samba

The Adidas Samba was originally released in 1950 as a soccer shoe designed to help players maintain traction on icy, hard ground, making it one of Adidas’ oldest models. You likely wouldn’t equate this first design to the Samba you’re seeing on the streets today—it looked more like a hiking boot with a rubber toe cap than an effortlessly cool sneaker.

Over time, the Samba’s functionality and style transitioned it from the soccer field to the streets, and it became a casual staple thanks to its simple, sleek design and versatility.

Recently, the Samba design of the 1990s has experienced a major resurgence, driven by a growing trend toward retro, minimalist sneakers.

However, despite its popularity, the Samba has common drawbacks. Even those that only wear conventional shoes often complain about the extra narrow toe box, the rigid sole, or the stiff ankle that can cause blisters.

What to look for in comfortable, barefoot sneakers

If you want to balance foot health with fashion, check out these barefoot shoes like the Adidas Samba. All of these barefoot shoe alternatives feature:

  • Wide, naturally-shaped toe box
  • Flat, zero-drop sole
  • Thin, flexible sole

Sizing reference

For most of these shoes, I’ll provide a sizing reference based on my experience with the fit. Read more on measuring your feet for barefoot shoes here.

I’m most often a US7.5/EU38 in my barefoot sneakers and casual shoes. My feet are medium (‘B’) width and measure 23.3cm long with a higher instep and narrower ankle. I typically look for shoes with an extra 1.2cm of space.

Barefoot Shoes like the Adidas Samba

These barefoot shoes combine the Samba’s vintage appeal with a more natural fit and feel.

Best Overall: Groundies Panama

Leather and Suede uppers | $140 Shop Groundies US or Groundies EU

Groundies Panama barefoot sneakers like Adidas Samba

First up is the Groundies Panama, which captures the look and feel of the Samba the best. The faux sidewall makes the sole appear thicker than it is, so you still get great flexibility out of these barefoot shoes. The uppers are high quality leather and suede, and come in class white, bold maroon, black, and green. These fit narrow to medium width feet best. I opted for a EU38 based on my 23.3cm foot measurement.

Best Affordable: WHITIN Suede Patchwork Shoes

Mesh and Suede Uppers | $42 on Amazon | Shop WHITIN

WHITIN, affordable barefoot shoes like Adidas samba

WHITIN is known for its affordable minimalist shoes sold on Amazon. The quality is solid for the price. While you don’t usually see natural materials on these shoes, this trendy barefoot sneaker has part-suede uppers. The contrasting mesh does look a bit cheap. The cushion behind the heel feels bulky, and ultimately they don’t feel quite as “barefoot” compared to the more established brands, but they are a great entry-level minimalist shoe. I opted for the US7.5/EU38. These are currently only available in women’s sizes. Read the full WHITIN brand review…

The Lyra sneakers are ideal for a true barefoot shoe lover, with an ultra-flexible 3.5 mm sole, topped only with a thin leather insole. The uppers come in this mint green suede, a white leather and suede combo, or leopard print. Like most Mukishoes, these are a good fit for medium width feet and accommodate my higher instep well. They feel a little roomier than some of my other Mukishoes, though I do wish I had a touch more room around the pinky toe. I wear an EU38. Read the full Mukishoes review…

Best for Narrower Feet: Blusun 200

Nubuck and Suede leather uppers | €140 | Code KELLY10 for 10% off | Shop Blusun

Blusun barefoot sneakers like Adidas Sambas

Blusun is a new barefoot shoe brand that launched in 2024, and their Samba-inspired sneaker immediately caught my eye, especially the minty green and bright sky blue colorways.

They’re made with nubuck and suede leather and feature a 5mm flexible sole, putting them firmly on the “very barefoot” end of the spectrum.

These sneakers are best suited for narrower, lower-volume feet. On my higher instep, they feel a bit snug — and since they don’t come with a removable insole, there’s no way to create more space. I went with an EU37, which is a little short on length. If I were to order again, I’d stick with my usually EU38, especially as I need more width and volume in this style. Best for Wider Feet: Bohempia Felix

Hemp Canvas and Vegan Suede Uppers | €139 | Code KELLY10 for 10% off | Shop Bohempia

Bohempia Felix are a barefoot sneaker alternative to the Adidas Samba

The Bohempia Felix is a great option for wider feet and anyone looking for a breathable, vegan-friendly sneaker. The uppers are made from lightweight hemp canvas and vegan suede, making them a good choice for warmer weather.

They’ve recently expanded their color options, so you can now pair the white canvas with blue, green, or pink faux suede accents.

Although the sidewall looks a bit higher, the sole is actually just 4mm thick, with an additional 4mm removable insole for a touch of cushion. The Felix comes in both regular barefoot and wide widths. I chose an EU38 in regular, which already feels spacious on my medium-width feet. The wide version should work well for those with extra wide feet.

Best Vegan: Ohne Project 070

Vegan For Leather and Microfiber Suede Uppers | $171 | KELLY10 for 10% off | Shop Ohne Project

Ohne Project 070 sneakers like the Adidas Samba

Ohne Project is a Spanish brand that makes retro minimalist sneakers. All are 100% vegan. They started off with some 80s inspired sneakers, and recently dropped a collection of Adidas Samba-inspired kicks, including a lot of colorful options. They’re best suited for narrow to medium width feet. They come with two sets of insoles (3mm and 5mm) to adjust volume and cushion. As someone with a higher instep, I’m most comfortable without any insoles. Size EU38 fits me best. Read the full Ohne Project brand review…

Best Dressy Sneakers: Gaucho Ninja Sneaky Ninja Retro Trainers

Leather and Suede Uppers | $174 | Code KELLY10 for 10% off | Shop Gaucho Ninja

Gaucho Ninja Sneaky Ninja Retro trainers like the Adidas Samba

Gaucho Ninja shoes always have quality you can feel, and these retro trainers are no different. I like that these feel like a dressier, more polished sneaker thanks to the design, materials and leather laces. They’re a good fit for medium to wide width feet, and have a strong slope shape. With the included insole, they fit lower volume feet; I removed the insole for more space. I wear these in an EU38.

More barefoot shoes like the Adidas Samba

The above would be my top picks for the specific categories, but everyone is looking for a little different fit, style or color. Here are more barefoot shoes like the Adidas Samba that may be a better fit for you.

Saguaro Shoes Dash 1

Mesh and Microfiber Uppers | $61 | Code KELLY15 for 15% off | Shop Saguaro

Dash barefoot sneakers like Saguaro Shoes are like the Onitsuka Tigers, one of the trendiest barefoot sneakers in 2025

The Dash I sneakers from Saguaro are part Adidas Samba, part Onitsuka Tiger. They’re a little busy design-wise, but the green sole and yellow logo make a fun statement. If that’s not your vibe, other Dash colorways skip the T-toe and lean more toward a classic Tiger look.

They’re another solid affordable option — just know the materials feel on the cheaper side. The biggest downside? They sell out fast! I’m wearing an EU38. Read the Saguaro Shoe brand review…

Magical Shoes Nova Sneakers

Suede Uppers | $155 | Code KELLY for 10% off | Shop Magical Shoes

Magical Shoes Nova in pink, barefoot shoes like the Adidas Samba

If you like color, the Nova sneakers come in this cute bubblegum pink, as well as a bright blue, cherry red, muted green, and purplish-blue, and dark brown. They’re a great match for medium-width, high-volume feet. The toe box appears slightly molded and reinforced to preserve that roomy fit, which is great for comfort, but as the reinforcing sits a bit back from the edge of the sole, it can look slightly awkward (you can see what I mean in the comparison photo with the Mukishoes at the top of this section).

Like other Magical Shoes sneakers, I had to size up. I’m wearing an EU39 here.

Best for Extra Wide Toe Splay: Realfoot Copero

Leather and Suede Uppers | €166 | Shop Realfoot

Realfoot Copero for extra wide pizza feet

Realfoot shoes are catered to those with “pizza feet” — an extra wide toe splay, but narrower midfoot and ankle. They say they have the widest toe box in the world, and that just might be the case (the toe box is 10.8cm for an EU38). The Copera sneakers are made with leather and suede, and feature the popular T-toe, along with two side stripes. The 4mm sole is very flexible, topped by a 4mm insole that offers shock-absorption and cushion on harder surfaces.

Koel Barefoot ILA Napa

Leather Uppers | $151 | Shop Koel

Koel Ila sneakers, barefoot shoes like Adidas samba

The Koel ILA sneakers have some of the signature features of the Samba like the suede T-toe and side stripes (but here it’s two instead of three). But, they feel somewhat different stylistically as they were also inspired by golf shoes. These feature a wide toe box and 5mm natural rubber sole.

Final Thoughts

If you love the classic look of the Adidas Samba but don’t want to be like so many people I’ve heard lamenting their foot pain and blisters after wearing them, then get a shoe that is foot-shaped, flat, and flexible. Today’s barefoot shoe brands are making sneakers that don’t compromise on style or foot health, as you can see in the list above! Remember, not all minimalist sneakers are created equal, and the best barefoot shoe for you is going to be the one that best fits your foot shape, width and volume.

I hope this post helped you narrow down your options as you search for barefoot shoes like the Adidas Samba. If you end up trying one of these pairs, I’d love to hear how it goes!

Trendy Barefoot Sneakers in 2024

Fleeters

Vegan Leather Uppers | Prices start at €159 | Code KELLY for 10% off | Shop Fleeters

Fleeters barefoot shoes are made from corn leather

Fleeters launched with two trendy barefoot sneaker styles with a variety of punchy color accents. These unisex shoes are made with vegan corn leather and a focus on sustainability. While the outsole appears thicker from the outside for a more conventional look, it’s actually only 5mm and super flexible. There is also a 3mm removable insole.

The toe box is really roomy, but they’ve done a good job with the design so that it’s doesn’t appear quite as wide. Read the full review…

Check out this round-up of cute pink barefoot sneakers on this Barefoot Shoe Guide.

Black, white, brown…neutral sneakers go with everything, but sometimes looking down and seeing that little pop of color makes me smile and brings some personality to an otherwise plain outfit. If you’ve been looking for pink barefoot sneakers, here’s a quick round-up of some of my favorites.

I’ve included both leather and vegan options, and included notes about fit and sizing for each style.

All of these barefoot shoes feature a wide, anatomically shaped toe box and a flat and flexible sole.

Pink Barefoot Sneakers

1 Saguaro Shoes Luck Sneakers

Knit Uppers (Vegan) | Retail: $50 – $60 | code KELLY15 to get 15% | Sizes: EU35 – 49 | Stack height: 5mm + 4mm  removable insole | Shop Saguaro Shoes

Saguaro Shoes Luck III Pink barefoot sneakers
Code KELLY15 for 15% off

Saguaro Shoes has a lot of affordable barefoot styles, and quite a few of them come in pink. Some of my favorites are the Luck styles, which usually run between $50 to $60. You can use code KELLY15 to get 15% off on the Saguaro Shoes website.

These are made from knit and mesh and are reasonably breathable. They have extra padding around the heel collar to make the more comfortable. Most of the Luck styles have a sock-like fit, though you still can adjust some with laces.

Fit & Sizing: Fit Sizing for Saguaro shoes varies for me based on the type of sole. These Luck styles mostly use the cactus sole, which I find very comfortable in an EU38 based on my 23.3cm, medium width feet. It’s the advanced 6mm sole that’s used for most of the Saguaro hiking shoes that I find runs a little more tapered and small.

Shipping & Returns: Free shipping within the US on orders over $18. Return new and unused shoes within 30 days. The buyer is responsible for the return shipping.

2 Feelgrounds Original Mesh and Luxe Sneakers

Mesh Uppers or Faux Leather Uppers (Vegan) | Retail: $109 | Sizes: EU35 – 49 | Stack height: 5mm | Shop Feelgrounds

Feelgrounds Mesh Pink barefoot sneakers

I’ve always gravitated towards Feelgrounds as they have the perfect fit and feel for me. The rubber soles provide a good balance of flexibility and ground feel. In 2023, they upgraded their soles for a more durable natural rubber, so they last longer, but are slightly stiffer. There’s more details in this Feelgrounds brand review.  If you want a little more cushion, they offer 3mm insole.

The Original mesh sneakers come in a range of colors, including  light pink. The luxe faux leather sneakers are offered in metallic rose.

Fit & Sizing: Feelgrounds fit medium to wide width feet and up to high volume. The mesh and knit shoes tend to have a roomier fit than the luxe or canvas. I wear an EU38 in all of my Feelgrounds sneakers.

Shipping & Returns: Shipping is about $17 from Germany to the US. Returns must be made within 30 days of receipt of shoes in new, unused condition. A prepaid return label is $15.

3 Lang.S Zen and Onyx Sneakers

Leather Uppers | Retail: €120 | Code KELLY for 10% off | Sizes: EU 36 – 41 | Stack height: 6mm + 2mm removeable insole | Shop Lang.S

Lang.S Leather Pink barefoot sneakers

The Lang.S sneakers are made from the softest chrome-free leather. The inside is also fully lined with soft, smooth leather. The Zen come in a Dusty pink, while the Onyx have a metallic pink side panel.  These are in adult sizes, but Tikki also has sparkly pink barefoot sneakers in girl’s sizes.

Fit & Sizing: The new Lang.S Shoes are a great fit for medium width feet. They fit my higher instep well, even with the insole. I found the size chart accurate and opted for an EU37 for all of tmy Lang.S shoes based on my 23.3 cm foot measurement. This means the Lang.S sizing runs a little large, as I’m most often an EU38.

Shipping & Returns: Shipping is about €30 from Romania to the US. Returns must be made within 30 days of receipt of shoes in new, unused condition. Must return to Timisoara, Romania.

Watch this video to learn more about the rebrand of Tikki Shoes to Lang.S.

4 Shapen RE:WIND Sneakers

Leather and Suede Uppers | Retail: €149 | Code BFSHOEGUIDE for 5% off | Sizes: EU 35 – 44 | Stack height: 5.5mm | Shop Shapen

Shapen Re:Wind barefoot sneakers like Nike Dunks
Code BFSHOEGUIDE for 5% off

Shapen’s newest sneaker, the Re:Wind, is a barefoot take on the popular Nike Dunks. They’re a white leather sneaker with pink suede accents. You can also get them with black or beige or accents.

Fit & Sizing: Like most of Shapen’s shoes, these Re:wind sneakers run a little large. I opted for a size EU37 based on my 23.3cm foot measurement. I have a higher instep, and am most comfortable in these without the added insole. With the insole included, these sneakers are a good fit for low to medium volume feet.

Shipping & Returns: Shipping to the US is €25 and takes 6 – 9 business days. Shipping within the EU is €6 – €14 and takes 2 – 5 business days. Returns are not accepted outside the EU. Returns within the EU are accepted within 30 days, buyer pays return shipping.

Read a full review of Shapen’s sneakers, boots and women’s dress shoes here.

5 Ahinsa Vida Hemp Sneakers

Hemp Canvas Uppers (Vegan) | Retail: €149 | Code KELLY10 for 10% off | Sizes: EU 37 – 43 | Stack height: 4mm + removeable insole | Shop Ahinsa

Ahinsa Vida Hemp Pink barefoot sneakers
Code KELLY10 for 10% off

The Ahinsa sneakers are a good option for those that want vegan materials as the uppers use a breathable hemp canvas. They also come in bright red and white.

Ahinsa shoes come in a barefoot version and a comfort version. The comfort version usually has a thicker insole included that has a small heel drop that is supposed to compress to zero drop under body weight.

Fit & Sizing: I opted for these in an EU38, and they have more room than most of my other sneakers in the same size, but not so much that I’d size down. The shape on these is more of a bean shape, with a narrow heal and a curve out at the toe box. This accommodates a wider toe splay, but has more room than I need as my foot is more straight than bean shaped.

Shipping & Returns: Ahinsa is based in the Czech Republic. EU delivery ranges from €11-16, and delivery to USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand ranges €16-22. They accept new and unworn shoes within 14 days. The buyer is responsible for the return shipping.

Love your Converse All Stars, but not the painfully narrow and tapered toe? Check out these barefoot shoes like Converse that have a wider, anatomically-shaped toe box.

Converse dubs it’s Chuck Taylor All Star as a “must-have for everyone’s wardrobe” with its iconic and timeless silhouette. Most people would recognize a pair of Chucks anywhere. And while I do love the simple but classic style, I don’t love the overly narrow toe box.

If you’ve been looking for a wide or extra wide version of Converse All-Stars, this post has a list of the best options.

Many of us have spent decades trying to find our favorite shoe styles, only to start the process all over again when we learn about barefoot shoes. Of course, most will attest that this inconvenience is totally worth it for the long-term foot health, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t frustrating.

Thankfully, as more barefoot shoe companies have emerged and brands are expanding their offerings, they’re branching out beyond the most basic of styles. If you loved your Vans, Nike Dunks, or Converse All Stars, you can now find a very similar barefoot version.

If you were a huge Chuck Taylor fan, then you’ll want to check out these barefoot shoes that look like Converse, but without the painfully narrow toe box.

Best Barefoot Shoes like Converse All Stars

Aintap FeelBarefoot Shop on Etsy – Wide Converse Style Sneakers

Leather Uppers | 6 mm rubber sole | $99 using Code KELLY50 on Etsy

Feelbarefoot barefoot shoes like Converse on Etsy

This is one of my favorite Etsy shops for barefoot shoes due to the quality craftsmanship, extensive colors to choose from and customization options.

They offer shoes with both a leather sole and a rubber sole. You can get these wider Converse-style shoes with either sole. I like the leather sole for dressier shoes (check out their oxfords), but they are a bit stiffer than a rubber sole. For these sneakers, I opted for the 6mm rubber sole. The rubber sole comes in black, off-white or tan. I have the off-white, which I wish did come in a true white that matched the white leather. There is also an insole that provides a few millimeters of cushion. It is glued down, so I wouldn’t recommend removing it.

The uppers are full leather, including the contrasting toe cap. This makes them look a dressier than your standard canvas Converse Chucks. You can get them in a ton of different colors, including metallics and prints.

Fit and sizing:

The Feelbarefoot Converse sneakers fit medium volume and medium width feet best. They feel like a good fit for my feet overall, but I don’t have a lot of extra width or space. I opted for an EU38, which feels like I have just enough room. Note that the measurements for the men’s size chart are slightly different than the women’s, so make sure you’re ordering from the correct page to get the right size for you.

Feelbarefoot barefoot shoes like Converse with a wide toe box on Etsy compared to Converse shoes

Bohempia Herlik and Orik Sneakers

Hemp Canvas Uppers | 8 mm stack height | €129 – €129 | Code KELLY10 for 10% off

Bohempia barefoot shoes like Converse with a wide toe box

Bohempia was the first brand I found making barefoot shoes like Converse. They have both low-tops and high-tops.

Just like Converse, these have a rubber toe cap and a dark stripe around the outsole. They do have quite a squared angle at the big toe, which I’d love to see softened a bit.

Both the Orik high tops and the Herlik Low tops come in the popular colors of black and white, but they have a few crighter colors as well, like red and yellow.

These Converse lookalikes by Bohempia use hemp canvas uppers. Hemp canvas has a lot of amazing properties; it’s very strong and durable, as well as antibacterial, naturally moisture-wicking, and odor resistant.

The shoes feature a 4mm sole along with a removable 4mm foam insole.

Fit and sizing:

Bohempia shoes are available in a regular barefoot width and a wide barefoot width. The regular barefoot width is already very generous and is best for those with medium to wide feet. At my EU38 size, the regular width shoes are9.5cm. The he wide barefoot version is 10.3cm in an EU38.

Bohempia fit medium to high volume feet well. I have a higher instep, and find these comfortable with the included insole.

I find that they fit true to size according to the size chart. With my 23.3cm foot length, I look for shoes around 24.5cm, which matches up with the insole measurement for the EU38.

Other Barefoot Shoes like Converse All-Stars

Groundies True Star – I haven’t seen these on Groundies in awhile, but the next closest option at this brand is the Brooklyn.

Zapata Feroz Jérica – This Spanish brand has a barefoot shoe that is somewhat reminiscent of Converse shoes with a white toe cap

Zaqq Chuqqs – This German brand made their version of the Chuck Taylors, and aptly called them Chuqqs. These are leather sneakers with a white toe cap.
